Practical Guidelines Chin Surgery

Use saline solution or mouthwash which is 0% alcohol to rinse your mouth for 2 weeks.

Make a cold compress on your cheeks and chin for 1-4 days after chin surgery.Then, make a warm compress instead until the swelling has reduced.

Avoid chewy food, including hot and spicy food. Do not tongue around the wound for 1 month.

Lie on your back, and sleep on a high pillow 45 degree angle for 5-7 days. If you want to lie on your side, please use a neck pillow to protect your chin for 1 month.

Absorbable suture is fully absorbed over a month. Take it easy!

On the third-fifth day after surgery, you can open a medical bandage by yourself. (Recommendation: Due to your convenience, please use saline solution to wipe out the medical bandage.)

Do not hand on cheek for 3 months, and try to avoid putting any pressure around your chin.

Do not smoke for 1 month.

Do not exercise for 1 month.

It is usually feeling the pain while you’re speaking, smiling or shifting your mouth within 1-3 months after surgery, but don’t worry! it will get better.

Do not drink alcohol, and avoid eating injurious food, sea food and pickled food.

The Patients have to follow-up every 1 month / 3 months / 6 months / 1 year.

The result looks close to final within one month after surgery, and is considered

final after about 3-6 months, when residual swelling has subsided.
